If someone ask me to recommend a resort that I would pay a visit again and again in Taiwan, the answer is definitely the Promisedland Resort & Lagoon in Hualien. I had a wonderful first experience to stay there for a couple of nights with one of my travel groups over ten years ago. When I visit Hunlien every time I always think that one day I will come back here again.
In the decade ago, I had my first experience to stay in the Promisedland Resort & Lagoon with my travel group, all of them were very satisfied at its services and facilities. It has constantly got many hotel awards oversea and in Taiwan over the past ten years. It was also the only resort from Taiwan that made into the ranking of 100 hotels and resorts in the world.
About the Promisedland Resort & Lagoon
It originated from the idea of the founder Mr. Qing-Zheng Liang , who wanted to create a vacation wonderland. In 1961, Mr. Liang started a little business with four partners when he was only eighteen, but a year later the business did not go well and it was closed. In the following year, Mr. Liang began his own business by selling portable gas stoves, pots and sinks, which were the best-selling products on the kitchenware market in Taiwan during the 70s. Later Mr. Liang sold the business and spent all the money on purchasing lands in Hualien, which is the location of the Promiseland Resort & Lagoon now.
The resort was designed by W.A.T. & G. from the United States, which was mixed natural style with Spanish architectures. I would like to thanks Fun Taiwan Creative Life for inviting me to stay in the Promiseland Resort & Lagoon, later you will see how much fun I had this time .
If you visit here by car, you can drive to the front door for a short parking, and after you have done the check-in, you park your car in the parking lot. The staff will drive you to your room with your luggage by a golf cart.
The resort holds activities for their guests regularly. We had the one called “Vacation—City Farmer Version”, which I strongly recommended that if you were going to join it, please started it from 15:00 on time as the earlier you were here, the more fun and activities you got.
I stayed in Room 22, which was happened to be one of the scenes in the Taiwanese TV show “Love You／While We Were Drunk”.
There are several room types in the resort, which are Flamenco, Isabella, Antonio, Prime Minister Suite and Presidential Suite, I stayed in Flamenco. The room was decorated by antique furniture with exotic atmosphere. Once I got into the room, I felt I was in another country totally.
The room has a LED TV, a fridge and a teapot set for guests to use.
The water bottle and drinks in the fridge are all free.
Beehive cake is a must-buy souvenir in the resort, which won a bronze medal in a national baking competition as well as on the top of the ranking on food voting in Hualien.
There are two restaurants in the resort, which are Lira restaurant with western style gourmet, and Aroma restaurant provides Chinese food. This time I chose Lira restaurant for my first dinner, which was extremely satisfying. Beehive cake is also offered in Lira restaurant.
Our kids had lot of fun when they were taking a bath.
Each bath tub has a handrail to keep kids own safety when they get up from the tub.
The resort has three swimming pools.
There is a public pool with warmer water where you can go to soak in and make all your tiredness away for the day.
It is needed to make a reservation in advance if you want to eat in Lira restaurant.
There are two dinner time schedule that you can choose which are 17:30-19:00 and 19:30-21:00 respectively.
Dinner area in Lira restaurant is on the first floor.
Dinner area in Lira restaurant on the second floor, you can choose if you want to sit either on the first floor or the second floor. At weekends, the restaurant is always fully booked, please keep in mind to book in advance.
The buffet area on the second floor
There are some salad, smoked salmon, seafood and sashimi, my favorite were the first two dishes.
In cooked food section, it offers plenty of dish selection.
For beverage, they also provide beer for adults, I got to drink as much as I can tonight since my room was just next door. (Drinking alcohol is prohibited for teenagers who are under 18 and No driving after drinking.)
There were also some sashimi, smoked salmon, cakes, MOVENPICK ice and Cappuccino soup, which were all good. One little advice, please make sure you do not eat afternoon tea if you are going to have dinner in the buffet restaurant.
If you still have time after you finish dinner, there are a play room and a bar for guests to be relaxed on the second floor in the lobby.
Tian Mu Theater
The resort has its own event schedule in Tian Mu Theater; it starts at 21:00 everyday. It could be a theme party, a musical performance, a live band show or an aboriginal dance, which all depends on the schedule. The show takes place around 50 minutes. After the show, you are invited to release water lanterns with the performers by the canals inside of the resort, which is a perfect ending of the day.
It was so nice to see the view when I woke up. I imagined that I was in a forest with all the trees around me.
I had my breakfast buffet in Lira restaurant; the breakfast time began from 7:00 to 11:00. I enjoyed myself being alone here when I had my breakfast.
As a travel group guide, this was the only time that I got to have some peace and quiet.
Because it was early in the morning so no need for queuing.
I had a good appetize this morning so I ate a lot, the fried eggs were so good.
A staff from the resort provided balloons for kids from 9:00 to 9:30. See!! How excited they were.
After breakfast, we joined an activity for experiencing to be a farmer, it took two and a half hours in general. The activity included eco-tour, archery, natural printing DIY, homemade bread DIY and organic light food bar.
Adding flouràdigging a holeà adding yeastàadding sugaràadding wateràstiring it equallyàrolling the loaf bread.
The little girl had much more fun, and the little boy was still playing with the balloons.
Nearly done with rolling the bread, could you tell what I was trying to make? Putting it in the oven and we will see what it became later.
The materials we needed were a cotton cloth, a notebook, an adhesive tape, a scissors, a flower, a leaf and a billiards ball. First of all, wrapping up the notebook with the cotton cloth, and cut the cloth along the notebook Then, put the flower and the leaf in the middle of the cotton cloth and stick it with the tape, and using a billiards ball to squeeze the flower and the leaf until the color liquid came out from them. Finally, It was all done.
It was the finished work on the left hand side which was from the little boy, still got some room for improvements.
It was hard for the four-year-old kid to do archery, so I did it with him.
The tour guide from local took us walk around the resort and introduced lots of species which only existed in Taiwan.
Grain rice with braised pork is a perfect match, my group all had one bowel of it. Also, purple sweet potato are only grown in Hualien, don’t miss out while you are here.
In the meantime, our bread was ready, we made Anpanman, hello kitty, pig and rabbit, aren’t they cute?
Also, playing Maori balls and dance teaching were held at the same time nearby. All these activities were all free for guest to participate as long as you stay in the resort.
Tian Mu Theater
Inside of Tian Mu Theater also provide places for indoor and outdoor activities, which are graffiti wall, baseball, video games, table football, mini golf, magic bubble, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, basketball, flying kites, frisbee, and croquet.
There is a huge pinball to play, look how much fun he enjoyed.
There are too many activities that you can do here, one day would always not be enough. It was time for us to check out.
Taking a boat tour in the resort is highly recommended, you get to see the whole view of the entire resort.
There are seven different bridges that you can see during the boat tour.
Before leaving the resort, we took kids to play with water in one of the swimming pools. They wanted to be on the water slide but there were both afraid of water. Both of them fell asleep once they got on the car. The resort is perfect with your family to stay, especially the ones with children.
